Nova Health Co Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Clinic
A specialised service based in Wagga, supporting women living with endometriosis and persistent pelvic pain, servicing the Murrumbidgee region.
We support women experiencing endometriosis, persistent pelvic pain, painful periods impacting daily life, pelvic floor dysfunction, pain with sex, bladder or bowel related pelvic pain, adenomyosis, perimenopause or menopause symptoms.
Endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics have been established across Australia.
These clinics work to reduce diagnosis timeframes and provide better care and pain management for those suffering from endometriosis, pelvic pain and other chronic pelvic pain conditions.
What is endometriosis?
What is pelvic pain?
Persistent pelvic pain is defined as recurrent pain in the pelvis (the area below the belly button and between the hips) for more than 6 months.
Persistent pelvic pain often encompasses various types of pain and associated symptoms. This includes pain originating from pelvic organs (such as painful menstruation, endometriosis, painful bladder, or irritable bowel), musculoskeletal discomfort (such as tense pelvic floor muscles and spasms), sensitised nerve pathways, and the effects of chronic inflammation (such as bloating and fatigue). These symptoms can impact on personal relationships, professional endeavours, academic pursuits, and emotional wellbeing.
What is the purpose of this clinic?
Safe space
To provide an accessible and safe space for those with endometriosis and pelvic pain to feel validated and listened to.
Specialised advice
To provide specialised multi-disciplinary advice with a biopsychosocial approach to endometriosis and pelvic pain.
Individualised care
To work collaboratively with patients to create personal care plans, prioritising education and empowerment of patients.
Support
To provide opportunities for group learning, creating connections and community to improve quality of life for those living with endometriosis and pelvic pain.
Endometriosis is a recognised factor in persistent pelvic pain.
However, not all people with persistent pelvic pain will have endometriosis, and not all people with endometriosis will have persistent pelvic pain. A holistic approach to care with individualised assessment and advice is recommended.
The Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Clinic received grant funding from the Australian Government. This will help to improve diagnostic delay and to promote early access to intervention, care and treatment options for endometriosis and pelvic pain, and the treatment and management of perimenopause and menopause symptoms.
